Photo of the Day: Art Pavilion in Zagreb

During the Croatia leg of my month in Europe back in 2011, I spent one gloomy November day in the capital city of Zagreb before heading down to Split and Dubrovnik. Zagreb is a very interesting city, with a mixture

Photo of the Day: Cascading Falls at Krka National Park

Croatia has some beautiful national parks. Plitvice Lakes is the most famous, but it was too far away for us to visit on our one free day in Split, so we “settled” for Krka National Park; quite a nice consolation

Photo of the Day: Dubrovnik – Outside the Wall

This photo zooms in on a portion of the spectacular medieval wall that surrounds the old city of Dubrovnik, Croatia. Taken from the nearby Fort Lovrijenac, it’s a bit dark due to the overcast sky and zoomed-in focal length, but

Photo of the Day: Split, Croatia

Split was the most pleasant surprise of my 2011 Eurotrip. Our primary reason for visiting Croatia had been to see Dubrovnik. We knew we would visit other places along the way but did not have anything specific in mind. A

Photo of the Day: Dubrovnik in the Sky

In honor of this Sunday’s season premiere of Game of Thrones, here’s a bird’s-eye view of Dubrovnik, a.k.a. King’s Landing. This photo was taken from the top of Srd Hill. To the right of the walled city you can see

Photo of the Day: Fantasy Scene at Krka National Park

I took this photo in November during the Croatia leg of my 2011 Eurotrip. This building, located above the main falls at Krka National Park, reminded me of something you might see in a fantasy film, the way it seemed

Eurotrip 2011, Part 13: One More Day in Dubrovnik and the Long Journey Home

November 8, 2011: Our final non-travel day in Europe featured summer weather and a cool cable car ride to the top of a mountain to see Dubrovnik in all its glory. But first we visited the impressive Fort Lovrijenac, which sits

Angel Canyon, Utah - August, 2018 These photos are from my downtime at the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah, where I volunteered in Dogtown (you can also volunteer with cats, horses, pigs, bunnies, etc.). It was a rewarding experience; I would love to return one day. When I wasn’t volunteering, I explored the Angel Canyon area, where Best Friends is located. Unfortunately it was a mostly rainy couple of days and I wasn’t able to explore the majority of the canyon as the roads were closed for flooding, but I still managed to get a few decent shots. #americansouthwest #angelcanyon #bestfriendsanimalsanctuary #landscapes #mountains #roadtrips #scenery #Travel #utah

Luray, Virginia - October, 2018 This is the charming farmhouse we rented in the town of Luray in the Shenandoah Valley this past fall. The grounds and interior were beautiful; I could totally get used to living like that, though the location was a little too remote for my wife’s taste. I, on the other hand, loved the privacy, and we both dug the feeling of staying in a historic place while still enjoying modern amenities. I would definitely recommend the farmhouse if you’re planning a trip to the area. Just do a google search for “luray modern farmhouse.” . #farmhouse #landscapes #Luray #nature #NorthAmerica #Photography #roadtrips #scenery #ShenandoahValley #Travel #UnitedStates #Virginia #luraymodern

Fundy National Park, Canada - August, 2016 This photo is from an early evening hike in Fundy National Park along a small waterfall trail. It was beautiful, like a stroll through Middle Earth, and peaceful—we had the entire trail to ourselves. Our schedule didn't allow us time to see much of the park, but it's clearly worth at least a full-day's visit. #bayoffundy #Canada #fundynationalpark #hiking #landscapes #maritimeprovinces #maritimes #newbrunswick #Photography #roadtrips #streams #waterfalls
